The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Old Mexico

Scene out of Old Mexico?
No. It is Mission San Miguel north of Paso Robles along the central California coast.
That is one hefty hub for the wheel.

  1. what a great shot!!! could be texas too!!! or somewhere in Asia (just kidding!) :)

  2. Nice choice for bw.
PS - I like your idea of saying "traveler" rather than "tourist" :)

  3. wow, I love the textures in this photo. that wheel must weigh a ton. nice moody and introspective shot John and the light is fantastic.

  4. Great still life. Beautiful composition! San Miguel is a mission I haven't visited yet. Thanks for the reminder.

  5. Talk about a stunning black and white! WOW. Did you do somthing to the clouds to make them softer? This is beautiful, the light is perfect. Keep em coming...

  6. Great picture in black and white. Love it:-)
    Have a nice week John:-)
