St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi was the Patron Saint of animals and ecology and founder of the Franciscan order that established missions and vineyards throughout California. Francis Bernardone was born in Assisi, Umbria, Italy in 1181 A.D. He died in 1226 A.D., and was canonized as St. Francis of Assisi by Pope Gregory IX in 1228 A.D.

  2. that's an extraordinary statue of him. love the outstretched arm. this morning I looked out the window and saw a man trying to help a downed bird in the street. I almost went out myself after he left but decided not to get involved. a bit later I looked and the birdie was gone so maybe it flew away. hope so. nice photos John. are these taken near the vineyard?
hey, I don't mind if anyone wants to embiggen that selfie, I just won't display it large on my post - way too self-indulgent for my tastes. have a great weekend John. bury your nose in Sinbad's little neck for me. :)
