Macro Monday

I began the New Year with a walkabout in the forest yesterday hoping to find some mushrooms and fungi. Unfortunately it has been too dry and the little I did find were pitiful and not worth photographing.
I did locate this shelf fungi on a tree.

I then turned my attention to some Sword Fern.

Nevertheless it was a nice walk and I was treated to this Pileated Woodpecker looking for a snack.
Take notice how the sunlight brings out the tree dust that he stirs up as it drifts away in the breeze.

  13. Gee I always wondered about that constant pecking, I already know I would have a major headache if that were my job! This is a great clip you posted. How lucky you are to have the woods so near.
