The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

Home

Sinbad and I returned home a day early.  I  forgot to pack extra underwear.
We made a few unplanned destinations including Bodie Ghost Town and Yosemite National Park.
That's what makes road trips fun - the plan in not having a plan.

  1. Beautiful shots! This was on my bucket list - Yosemite, anyway - but doubt we will be making that trip now. Glad you had a good trip!

  2. Sooo, that's the secret... not having a plan! Glad you had a nice time, I was thinking of you two when we passed through the desert.

  3. I agree, no plan is the best part of our trip so far as well. Great photos, especially the first one, really like the contrast between the colors of the houses/cabins and the greens.
    Have a great weekend John!

  4. I've seen lots & lots of pics of Bodie, but they're were mostly close up shots of this or that building or maybe a few buildings, never a zoomed out shot showing the layout of the town! Thank you for this shot! I love it! I've always wondered what it looked like... I soooo want to walk thru there!

  7. Well, I guess you're going to be one of the last people to see Bodie? Tell me it isn't true, John

  8. You beautifully captured the green of the valley. If only I could snap my fingers and be there.

  9. you find the most spectacular towns to photograph. I'm in love with that first shot. I agree with you about how much fun it can be to go with the surprises of veering off the path of "the plan". Sometimes the best of times are had by doing that. I'm glad that it was your extra underwear you forgot to pack rather than Sinbad's food. But...you could have opted to go without - now that's veering off that path alright. happy weekend to you guys. plant a loving one on orange furball's head from Ms. Becky.

  11. Underwear or long underwear?
I am guessing you do your own packing at this stage.
Bodie is a great place, been there years ago.
Love to see your posts of your travels.
