The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

And some green.

  3. I love the fern also! They are personal favorites of mine - I am always looking for them in the woods, and usually photographing them. None of them have looked as dramatic as yours does!

  7. We have Mariposa lilies blooming at Panoche right now. They resemble the 3 petaled blue flower in your first photo except they are either white or a sort of magenta. Both have amazing markings inside. The second bluish flower is also blooming. Can't remember the name at the moment. There is a field of them as we drive up to the top. We also have some California poppies. Maybe your wildflower trip was too early this year??? BTW, the road has just been graded.... The big kahuna is going to show for a party Memorial Day weekend.
