The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The Wave on Monday Mural

Chillicothe, Missouri

I guess when you live in the center of the country the ocean surf holds a special fascination. Also, you may tend to exaggerate breaking waves from watching too many Hawaii Five-O episodes.

I don't recall why I took this photo on such an angle but I suppose I was trying to eliminate the annoying car or two that might have been in the way.  Pretty cool mural anyway you look at it.  I like the air conditioner relaxing on the beach.

certainly freshens up the side of an old building

I think murals like this are great - and I liked the Hawaii Five-O line!

This is a great house - but it's a teenager compared to the one I was born in. As far as we can tell it was built in the very early 1800's - possibly even earlier. I have yet to find a map of the village I'm from that it is not on!

You can see it here:

Lucky that its a surf world and not a tsunami one. I must admit that the waves are good painted and that it makes an otherwise dull wall interesting.

A huge wave, somebody did a great job. The airco on the beach is funny, ha,ha.

LOL! at the airconditioner on the beach.

I'd like to see a wave this big once in my lifetime. I wouldn't want to be caught in one, though.

Love your evaluation of this dramatic wave mural! :-)

First thing I noticed was the air conditioner...too bad they couldn't have incorporated it in and camoflaged it somehow. Must raise a few eyebrows in Missouri!

Looks like it's an ad for a radio station. Very cool.

A pretty cool mural photographed at a great angle.

Cool shot... and I was thinking how funny that the air conditioner looks like it's about to be pounded by the surf!

Your commentary is as entertaining as the image. Maybe someone can come along and paint a palapa on the a/c unit. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

I guess it's a radio station? Interesting.

I like seeing these murals! Somebody has the creative urge and gussies the place up a bit! And this one is good advertising, too!
I agree about the A/C on the beach!!
