The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

Showmen's Rest IV

Hugo, Oklahoma

The other side of Big John Strong's monument styled after a three-ring circus tent reads
"The man with more friends than Santa Claus".

The other side of Joe's headstone.

The other side of Dudley's marker.

This was a huge above ground crypt but other than the three circuses he, she, or they belonged to there were no cute epitaphs or any dates. Just the big circus tent.

Ah, but the best performer of all and still entertaining me everyday, the Great Sinbad.

That is the end of the show folks.

  1. I enjoyed the up close Sinbad photo ...a playful character

  2. Sinbad is a circus artist himself.

  3. Yes there are artists and artists.

  4. Maybe he was trying to show you what your headstone could look like.

  5. hi sinbad!

loved the epitaph: 'he gave the world a smile every day.' something all of us could aim for...

  6. some more interesting headstones and one cute kitty. Give him a pet for me.
