It Came From Outer Space


I came across this fish water snail (empty shell) 
in the exposed mud shoreline of the lake along my hiking routes.
I've never seen a snail this large.  




With some garlic and olive oil and you'd have a main entree here.

  5. The geek in me couldn't resist... A quick google search turned up Lymnea stagnalis (the giant pond snail). Great find!

  8. For years I've been picking up these shells on the beach. Then, in a field I found a whole bunch of them, clinging to a bush. I thought they lived in the ocean, but apparently not. I don't know how they make it to the beach.
