Monday Mural

Dothan, Alabama

Camp Recovery
(click on the picture to view it better)

In interesting bit of history behind the mural scene.

Odd that it makes no mention of Elvis being at Camp Recovery or in the mural.
You do see him, no?

  2. Imagine getting the orders posting you to this fort. I guess we're to presume that Camp Recovery was an effective intervention. Do you know? The photo realism in a mural this large must be impressive. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  4. Yes, I see Elvis/Dino. But the incongruity here is that every one seems so well dressed for being so very sick.

    Hmmmm.

Who will win the battle of Tex and John?

  8. Very interesting mural!
I could believe that is Rhett Butler, but not Elvis. Though maybe if I saw it in person, it would look more like him. Maybe I should go over to Dothan and take a look.
    Have a wonderful day!

  9. Yes, I do see someone there who looks a bit like Elvis. I have never been able to understand why Americans want to remember the War Between the States so much. Can you explain it to me? It was such a horrific war, a war that nearly split the U.S. and definitely pit family members against each other. Why remember that as you pass through every town in the South? Just askin'.

  10. More 'Americana' scenes and history. Interesting stuff I probably will never see! Glad you did!
