The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

In Order?

"The world is not to be put in order.  The world is order.  It is for us to put ourselves in unison with this order." - Henry Miller

We have scattered clouds this day.  Could some rain be in the forecast?  I checked the Weather Channel online for the 10 day forecast.  30% chance of showers for this Saturday.  Then at the bottom after the tenth day was this notice in red - Drought conditions should continue.  I am not so sure if Henry Miller had this in mind when making his quote.

  1. I would like to change the word order in balance. Nice macro. Like the black background and the yellow white appearance of the thistle on it.

  2. But that same Henry Miller also wrote “There is no salvation in becoming adapted to a world which is crazy”.

  3. The weather defies all understanding. Are you getting hit by the Arctic Vortex?

    Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

PS: even in winter I can wear shorts on the walk home - but I may also were warm hat!

  4. Weather reports are fickle-natured by nature!! Love the image you took John with the dark background; great lighting on your subject; well done

  5. People think that when things fall into place, they will find peace. They fail to realize that when they find peace, things will fall into place.

  6. sad about the drought - the UK could spare some rain, i'm sure. :)

    lovely shot.

  7. Love the pic! Sorry about your drought - if only we could balance the world a bit.

  8. We sure need rain.
Folsom Lake is down so far that the submerged town of Mormon Island is exposed.
Love your close up of the thistle.

  9. Yes I sure hope you all get some rain real soon out there. pretty pic

  10. Beautiful shot. I love the quote too.
