Earthquake Effects #2

Alongside the highway several fissures ran off into the vineyard.
(If you missed part one of the Earthquake series click here.)

Notice the irrigation line.

On the other side of the highway more fissures coming out from the vineyard.

I tried to get a picture down inside a crack.  Hard to tell from the photo but this is no more than a yard deep.  I wondered what the deepest one, wherever it was, would measure out to be.

Imagine what it would feel like to have the earth split open at your feet.

The winemakers will probably come up with some catchy name for this year's vintage that will be picked very soon.

One more set for tomorrow.

  1. A good scientific approach to the visualization of this earthquake. Nice showing.

  2. That is rather scary when the earth suddenly opens. It is our only security to have ground under our feet, but when it moves where to go?

  3. "Shaken, but not stirred" might be a good name!

  5. We felt a light earthquake here a few years ago..that felt strange enough. I cannot imagine what one like this feels like.

  6. Pay attention and be careful where you walk! Looks like there are lots of places to trip and fall.

  7. Really cool that you went to check this out. The crack is amazing, and to think it just happened so recently. It already looks old. Also, those grapes look mighty tasty.
