The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Mushrooms 16

On another day in a different part of the forest I found more Witches Butter.
This is the first time ever I have found it on an upright living tree.

This is also the biggest and bestest specimen I have ever found too.

This photo came out better than the other I posted before where I lost the detail in the bright yellow.  You can see that one here.

I am not sure if I can find this tree again.  I think I know kind of where it is...I think.

  1. But when you found it again the changes are that the witches butter is gone and then?

  2. From a distance it looks like someone has thrown blobs of butter against the tree.

  3. The name alone has conjures wonderful images.

  4. Ah, it's called Yellow Brain Fungus in the UK, if I'm not mistaken. I like "witches' butter" better!
