The test of an adventure is that when you are in the middle of it, you say to yourself, "Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home." And the sign that something is wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure. -Thornton Wilder

The nice thing about being confused is you get a chance to notice things a lot better than if you knew where you were going.

Old Signage

I love finding old signs such as this during our travels.
This beauty was in New Mexico.

They really look proper in black & white.
Using a polarizing filter helps with the effect.

  1. I prefer the coloured one with the rust on the sign.

  2. I agree with bieb. Pity that the neon is also disappeared. But style and fonts are unmistakable americana. Great catch.

  3. What a stellar blog . . i am so glad i followed a link to meet you. happy day!

  4. Fabulous! Seeing this even in a pic is a thrill so finding it along the road must be wonderful.

  5. I bet the American Pickers would love this...I enjoy seeing them, too.
