The Bicycle Exchange

One of the things I wanted to do was get rid of my fancy mountain bike.  It is an expensive high-end bicycle and as such I always felt compelled to take good care of it.  I always kept it covered from the sun beating down upon it plus keeping it from the eye of those wanting to steal it, even though it is locked up.  But all of this protection was a hassle putting on or taking off.  And so I hauled the bicycle around for over a year and probably only rode it two or three times.  Stupid.

Back at the house I could switch it out for my prehistoric old mountain bike.  It I don't care about as much.  It can set out exposed like everyone else does with their bikes you see strapped on the back of
motor homes.  This one takes up much less room.  It is not as big and has smaller normal sized bicycle rims and tires.  I think I will be more inclined to get it down and ride around.
We shall see.

I plan to sell the fancy bike.

  1. My husband loved mountain biking and wrote for most of the bike magazines. In addition to his super bikes he always kept an unlikely looking beater bicycle for riding around town, that would not tempt a thief. So if he stopped at a coffee shop or store and locked it up, it would be there when he was done. So I think your plan makes sense.
