What brought me here was the colossal statue of a pioneer woman strutting across the plains with child in hand. See how big it was compared to the Little House on the Highway parked beside it? The fact that there was a museum on pioneer women was a bonus. I have several books about the pioneer women and have the greatest respect for what they went through and endured while tagging along after their husband's wild dreams of fortune. So I was pretty excited about seeing this museum.
Well although the museum was very nice, I misinterpreted the meaning behind "pioneer woman". It was women of Oklahoma who were pioneers in various activities and causes such as civil rights, suffrage, aviation, etc. They even had a hall devoted to Oklahoma women in the music industry. I had only heard of one of the women and I've since forgotten who that was. Plus it was a poopy day for photos and the statue never came out to good. It was a really neat statue though, honest.
That part of parking next to the statue, I was just kidding.
We were parked by the museum off in the distance.
