I already thought my day was complete when I came across this fellow earlier in my ride,
but that was before the Bobcat encounter (yesterday's post).
There he was stretched out across the trail.
Fortunately for him I am not one of the gonzo mountain bikers going flat out at warp speed and
was able to stop in time avoiding any harm to him.
He was very photogenic allowing me to take several photos.
I think perhaps he was just as curious about me as I was with him.
Wonderful colors don't you think?

really beautiful and doesn't appear to be a venemous variety ??? Do you know what kind it is John?
Wow, thats a really nice colored one. Thanks for showing.
He is pretty...if snakes can be pretty. I love those colors.
The shape of his head says non posionous, the colors say posion.
Great photos.
Not a fan of snakes.
he is absolutely gorgeous!!! the colors of a southwest rug...
The colors are brilliant! Are those poisonous?
What an incredible set of photos. That snake is actually pretty. (grin)
Oh lord, not snakes... I can't even LOOK at a photo of a snake so I had to scroll through these quickly. But am sure you got some fine shots. I realize that snakes are not evil and perform as a valuable member of the natural order of things, but oh, do they ever give me the wheebie-jeebies.

That's a beautiful garter snake, catching some rays. I hope it moved off the trail before a less observant biker came through.
That's a wonderful little snake to see... nothing like it over here John.. We only have two snakes in the UK the Grass Snake and Adder.
I have only ever seen a grass snake
Great colours, but I have to admit I'm not sure if I would be able to take pictures if found one on my way! ;-)
You made some very close nice photos of him. He is very colourful and has a clever look on his face.
His colors are striking. The orange, green and spots of black remind me of a skinny watermelon...
Wonderful colors, definitely.
What beautiful coloration...so glass you photographed him and did not ride over him:-)
You are right those are awesome colors and I'm glad you didn't run over it too.
John... I don't do well with snakes large,small, poisonous or non-poisonous !! Yikes !!
