Before the Bobcat

I already thought my day was complete when I came across this fellow earlier in my ride,
but that was before the Bobcat encounter (yesterday's post).

There he was stretched out across the trail.
Fortunately for him I am not one of the gonzo mountain bikers going flat out at warp speed and
was able to stop in time avoiding any harm to him.

He was very photogenic allowing me to take several photos.
I think perhaps he was just as curious about me as I was with him.

Wonderful colors don't you think?

Oh lord, not snakes... I can't even LOOK at a photo of a snake so I had to scroll through these quickly. But am sure you got some fine shots. I realize that snakes are not evil and perform as a valuable member of the natural order of things, but oh, do they ever give me the wheebie-jeebies.

That's a beautiful garter snake, catching some rays. I hope it moved off the trail before a less observant biker came through.

That's a wonderful little snake to see... nothing like it over here John.. We only have two snakes in the UK the Grass Snake and Adder.
I have only ever seen a grass snake

Great colours, but I have to admit I'm not sure if I would be able to take pictures if found one on my way! ;-)

His colors are striking. The orange, green and spots of black remind me of a skinny watermelon...
