Too Late by Mere Seconds

At the flea market yesterday I came upon a man asking the seller what he wanted for the item in his hand.  $3 said the seller.  The buyer offered him $2 and the seller said okay.  I've been just sick over this all day long.  Even if it didn't work or some parts were missing, I don't care.  It would look marvelous sitting in my collectibles cabinet, the brass polished up to a high sheen.
This is the true classic in backpacker's stoves.

The Primus Stove

Yes, it looked exactly like this, same condition minus the holders to rest your pot on.
Maybe I wouldn't even have cleaned it up.

Another one will show up, maybe even better, or cheaper!

As my old Irish mother used to say, no crying over spilt milk!

My aunt cooked on one of these types of stoves. Her's might have been a bit bigger. They put out a lot of heat. Most of them were not problematic, if memory serves me right.

The one you have displayed is a beautiful specimen. Even if you don't polish it, the stove with the patina would be worth displaying.

I wonder if your photograph, nicely framed, wouldn't be a nice object to display. Know what I mean?

Peace :)

Ah, takes me back to my scouting days when we used to use these thing. Great little cookers but the number of time we got it wrong and ended up with a 3 foot pillar of fire coming from it was no mans' business. It's a wonder we didn't burn down the scout hall!
