"The Wilderness holds answers to more questions than we have yet learned to ask."
- Nancy Wynn Newhall
Well I wish the Wilderness would answer my question.
Over the holiday I looked at my blog on an iPad, and realized how much nicer my pictures looked with the Apple Retina display than they do on my PC laptop back at home. I did some research and it's all about pixels per square inch. A MacBook has 227ppi. There are a handful of PC laptops out there trying to match this with 220ppi up to as high as 276ppi. I've yet to go down to Best Buy and look. My wife keeps harping on me to make the switch over to a Mac. Oh almighty Wilderness, what should I do?
This is beautiful, a kind of skirt or oyster lying there. I can't help you with the decission about the Mac, that is SC's business.....
What is a wilderness, for sure also the computerworld. But let me say that the apple computers from the very first examples were embraced by the people working in graphic design because they always showed their work better then a windows PC. The only brake was the software that was not always there for an apple. Nowadays thats no problem anymore since apple uses also the intel processor. You can also run windows on your computer and use that program that you are used to. Still a lot of programs like photoshop and lightroom are now also for the apple and now I think that lightroom 5 is even better then aperture from apple (what I used for a long time but not anymore). Hope that this is a kind of answer.
I'd go look if I was half-tempted, and don't deliberate too long .... :) Enjoyed your fungi photo John.
well, even if you enjoy your photos at higher pixel density, the rest of us will still just have 'regular'. :)
this is a pretty one.
Does this mean you're a better photographer than you knew? I went Mac a few years back. I do like it, but it can be twice the cost.
The switch to an Apple/Mac is well worth it, John. We still have one PC at home, but otherwise, we are all Mac/Apple.
The photograph reminds me of an oyster shell for some reason. Very colorful.
Interesting info on the screen displays. It is my understanding that everything going out on the Internet is 72ppi. What a laptop does to it to get it uip to that 227ppi, I just don't know. Anyway, on a subject I know a lot more about is "giving Windows the heave-ho", and stepping up to a "real computing system"--the Mac. I gave up on WindowsXP about 5 years ago and it is the best move I ever made. Took me a whole year to actually figure out what I was doing with the Mac, but believe me it is a "breath of fresh air", while Windows is a "stinky toilet". I especially like the "Finder" system on the Mac--it'll find stuff lickety-split and no fooling around. So much more, that I now take for granted. Yeah Macs are pricey, but I think they are well worth it.
If you get a Mac, your wife will have to find something new to harp on you about. Your choice. :)
I like the pattern and color.
