Wet Salt

Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah

Whenever I pass through Wendover Utah - either coming or going - I always make camp at Bonneville.  Not on the salt but nearby there is BLM land (Bureau of Land Management) to camp on for free.  Unless there is an event that I purposely came to the salt flats for I never drive out onto the salt.  The salt is real nasty to all the metalwork underneath your vehicle if you do not wash it off right away.  This time by on our way home there had been some wet weather recently leaving standing water (mere inches deep) on the salt.

Nope, you do not want to go out onto this.  But it appears some of the local goof-balls have.
Notice how one person realized right away "this was a big mistake" and made a u-turn.

That is Interstate 80 in the distance and you can just make out some big-rig trucks off to the right.

That is looking like bad weather that first photo. But the sky is stunning.

Love the reflections. That's one place I would love to visit.

Not everyone thinks of the consequences of their actions, do they? I think the second photo is especially wonderful - the colours, the flatness, the reflection, the tire marks....
