My Buddy

He casts a long shadow

and has that aura about him,

nevertheless, the wind is not his friend.

Seen on the Road

Well, actually they overnighted next to us in a WalMart parking lot.  This is a new company that rents out these RVs in Australia, New Zealand and soon the UK.  So far you can only rent them here in the U.S. out of Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas.  For example, if you rent one in Las Vegas for 10 days and return it back in Las Vegas it will cost $68 a night.
With that paint color scheme it attracts more attention than I would be comfortable with.

Memorial Day

America will never be destroyed from the outside.  If we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves. - Abraham Lincoln

Never forget those who gave for our freedom.

Dried Mud

Yesterday was sand, today something different.

Only once was I in the desert and witnessed a flash flood.
That was long long ago, before the age of digital cameras and thus I have no pictures.

America the Beautiful

We had just drove in on the road stretching out in the distant background and pulled over at a wide spot on top of the ridge to take in the view, and this is what was there.  I just stood there staring at this wondering what goes on in the minds of people that can deface and trash public lands with such ease and lack of guilt.

Sometimes I really don't give the human race that much longer in this world.

And the world will be a better place, given time to heal from the wounds we've inflicted upon it.

Worse still was that there were two tourists from Germany who had pulled over also for the view and some picture taking.  Very embarrassing.

Desert Sunsets

We are back home for awhile now.  I will miss the beautiful sunsets.

Same scene but a little longer exposure.

Same image but cropped to give that panorama feel.

We're offline...again

Sinbad and I will be away for awhile looking for...

critters...

 and flowers.

I must remember to pack my cat

so he can keep watch.

More Flowers in the Desert

A flowering yucca and ocotillo together.

Another ocotillo in bloom.  The blooms are difficult to photograph.

See why?  They are way up there.

Western Bluebird Eggs

We put this nesting box up several years ago and they said it might take a few years before the bluebirds might use it.  Well this year finally, someone moved in and set up a nursery.

I'll not bother it anymore even when (if) I hear baby birds chirping.
It is kind of cramped in there but I guess this is what bluebirds like.
I just wonder how she could pop out four eggs?  She's not that big it seems.
The eggs are about the size of your purple table grapes.
Notice the head of the Phillips head screw to get an idea.
