With the firehouse post some wondered where they got their water from to fight fires. Well nearby the firehouse was this hydrant. But that really doesn't answer the question for I do not know of any water works department or pump station anywhere in the town. So where did water under pressure come from to feed this hydrant? There may have been lines coming in from nearby mountains connected to underground springs. I really don't know.
For most homes, this was the extent of their plumbing. There just wasn't any.

Still nice photo's and I still like them.
It never came up in my mind about the water, I am so used to have water everywhere here. But it must have been a problem there indeed.
I guess the possibility of finding gold was worth the inconveniences! For me, water is worth more than gold so I don't think I would have wanted to live there.
Not sure I'd want to try using that john
"The Leaning Tower Of Pissoir" I presume.
Looks like the board against the outhouse isn't very effective!
Looks like the Outhouse is Out of Order.
I can't believe that piece of wood is holding up that outhouse.
Looking back through your recent post this looks like a great place to explore - and as Michelle says above the beam holding up the outhouse id a great shot.
