I.O.O.F.

This is the Odd Fellows hall, the wood building to the right.  See the I.O.O.F. painted at the top.
International Order of Odd Fellows.  Their main purpose is  "To improve and elevate the character of man."  Okay.

There you (if you were a man) could come and workout in case you didn't get enough of that from working in the mines all day.  I'm sure it was more of a social meeting place for the men.

See what I mean.  A social meeting place.

This is an over-exposed picture so you can see deep in back better.

This is why it is important to hold your camera lens flush to the glass when taking pictures at Bodie.

And should you need to make a quick and discreet escape from the Odd Fellows hall for whatever reason, here is where you would do that, at the rear of the building.

Never heard about I.O.O.F. but club making is in the blood of all people of English descent. The stranger the better and perhaps they had a point here.

A workout, that would be a bit exaggerated with all the hard work they did indeed. I think you are right they probably did other exercises at the bar.

A wonderful old building. Back in Illinois there was an Odd Fellows building and memberships. I always wondered about it.

They left in the middle of having drinks?

Nice to see a bit of history and yes why did they leave in the middle of drinking at the bar.

Love your story of Bodie and the Odd Fellows Hall.
I really like the one with you in the reflection. Has a lot of character.

I've never seen the inside of an Odd Fellows Hall before. Interesting that members could make a quick getaway if they needed to.

Nevertheless I like the unintended selfie!
