In Search of Trees

We are now in southwestern Utah near Zion National Park.  Most of the day was spent shopping and driving so we didn't quite make it to a forest of any sort.  This is the view from our camp near the town of Virgin.  There is another camp area on the other side of the highway that is supposed to be near the Virgin River and we'll check that out tomorrow.

Zion National Park is over there somewhere.  We're not going that way for you have to pay $25 to be escorted through a narrow tunnel bored into a mountain.  At least that was the price the last time I came by here from the north years ago.  Plus I think I would only have inches to spare on each side of the RV and the tunnel walls.  I don't need that kind of white knuckle excitement.

We will stay a couple days in this area then move on north where there are some National Forest land and hopefully stay put for awhile.

Beans report:  Beans is travelling like a veteran of the roads now and enjoys each new camp area.

I like that nature, we have been in Zion long ago, our first trip to the States, must have been in 2004 or so.

The geology of the south west is so interesting and so different from what I am used to, both here in Canada and in my childhood home in England. I love those rock pictures. I visited Zion about 12 years ago and loved it. But I think we left Zion by those rock tunnels rather than arriving, and I can't remember paying $25..... but maybe the charge is only in one direction.
Beans is being a good kitty, hooray!

You are certainly in a beautiful part of the world. We recently came through there. Do you not have a Golden Age pass? There are a few great things about coming of age, and that is one of them.
