Kitt Peak Observatory

A sunset before leaving to new territory.

You do not even need clouds to have beautiful sunsets in the desert.

We headed east towards Tucson, Arizona.
Along the way is the Kitt Peak Observatory.
With 26 observatorys, it is the largest collection of telescopes in the world.

A 12 mile road will take you to the complex where you can walk around and see what there is to see.  The Little House on the Highway didn't want to make that steep climb so we didn't go.  It wasn't so much about going up, its the coming back down is hard on the brakes.

Another interesting point is while you are up there you are supposed to be as quiet as can be and talk in whispers for most of the personal are asleep  They are up all night long doing astronomer stuff.

As long as you can see the sunset who needs to peer through a telescope?
