Buying Gas in Oregon

We had to leave our camp at Williamson River.
Some screaming kids and unleashed barking dogs arrived over the weekend.

Two states in America do not allow you to pump your own gas at a service station.  New Jersey (where you can receive a hefty fine for doing so) and more relaxed Oregon.  They recently let up some allowing counties with less than 40,000 people to pump their own gas.  I pulled in to the town of Chemult needing fuel.  Here I learned something I didn’t know.

The nice friendly young lady (wearing a mask) told me that if I am buying diesel, which I was, and the diesel pump is separate and not shared with the gasoline pump the customer is allowed to operate yet fuel pump.  If both the diesel and the gasoline hoses were in the same pump the attendant has to fill your vehicle.  Strange huh?
I was happy being able to do it myself.

That's interesting. I don't drive but I think in England all pumps are self-service.
