The Circus Comes to Town

We left everything we found in the camp area for someone else and moved on for our next town...

Lamesa, Texas and their Forrest Park where we stayed at back in 2018.

Across from us a circus had arrived and were setting up.

At 2pm I could hear the sound system.  “Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.”  I wondered about what we would be in for.  I discovered they would be in another town tomorrow!
Woah!  I better go check it out today.

Tickets were $7 for advance sales online and $15 at the window on the day of the event.
I talked with the lady in the ticket booth.  She had been in the circus business for twenty-six years, the last two with Culpepper and Merriweather.  She wasn’t very talkative so I moved on.

More tomorrow but I’ll leave you with this:

The circus will visit over two hundred towns in seventeen states during their thirty-two week season putting on a ninety minute show, sometimes two shows that day.

Think about that some.

I haven't seen a circus like that in years. I had no idea they were still out there. What a treat to have met up with one!

Looking forward to some circus shots! Great that they still have the show on the road!

Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls, introducing Beans and his fearless trainer...prepare to be amazed...(insert circus music here as spotlight focuses on the two of you).

Don't do it, John. As glamorous as it sounds, do NOT run off and join the circus, even if Beans tries to talk you into it.

I love going to the circus but haven't been to one in years :(

Looking forward to seeing some photos!

There will not be that many circus shots for there just wasn’t all that much to it. Sorry.

Don’t expect much because there wasn’t much. The story behind it all was more interesting but too much to relate on the blog. Sorry.

No worries there. Our life is a traveling circus in itself.

Yes it was a treat and I was fortunate to time it just right to see what I did in the next post; a Reader’s Digest condensed version.
