A Sun-Scorched Land

 San Pedro Campground
Amistad National Recreational Area
North of Del Rio, Texas

Lets go for a walk Dad

All the trees here look like a fire had swept through a long time ago.
The bark is black and blistered, the trees leaveless.

Everything here wants to poke you, sting you, or bite you.

Prickly Pear cactus is the only thing green.

Then finally I found some green low to the ground.

And whatever type of brush this is appeared to have some life in it.

Lets go home and get some treats Beans.
Treats?!
She knows the word.

Yes, I tend to be hard on myself, but only me, not to others.
But there have been times upon a great revelation I have gone Yes! and danced a little jig.

When I think of how much of Texas is like that, I can't imagine why people ever settled there! (Before oil of course!)

I danced a jig in front of my 10 year old grandson the other day. He looked at me and said, "Now that's something I'll never be able to unsee." Imagine what Beans would think.
I love the bite you, stick you, sting you comment. The desert is never in a good mood. You better respect it.

What a desolate landscape.
You & Beans stay safe!
