Welcome to Tickland

Medicine Lodge, Kansas

Barber County Lake

When were we driving around looking for a nice secluded spot we noticed all the hiking trails there were.

Once parked we went right out to walk the trail near our spot.

I’ve seen enough.

I’m going back home Dad.  You coming?

Between the two of us we brought back home four ticks.
She’s stay in from now on.  I will go out again.
The next day was all rain, so the next excursion into Tickland will have to wait.

How to pass a rainy day.

I just thought, cats must have another life entirely in their dreams. That's why they sleep so much!

They are predicting a bad tick season here because our winter was not cold enough to kill them off. If that is the truth of it, I would take a look at who got the most miserable winter ever, and then I would high tail it right there. Good luck!

I hate ticks! They're dangerous too. They seem to get a lot up north when it's wet. A friend posted an article on what to spray on yourself and your animals that are user friendly. Evidently ticks hate some odors.

What do ticks hate the most?
7 Natural Ways To Repel Ticks - Farmers' Almanac
Ticks hate the smell of lemon, orange, cinnamon, lavender, peppermint, and rose geranium so they'll avoid latching on to anything that smells of those items. Any of these or a combination can be used in DIY sprays or added to almond oil and rubbed on exposed skin.

Ticks seem to be bad this year. 😟 Mowed my small back lawn yesterday, did a bit of weeding in the front garden, and found 3 ticks crawling on me when I went inside. All 3 were promptly flushed down the toilet.
Ticks carry some pretty nasty diseases. People primarily think of Lyme disease, but there are other diseases carried by ticks and some of them can be fatal. Those diseases can also be easily & successfully treated with antibiotics when diagnosed in a timely fashion.
Be careful out there, John. Good plan to leave Beans inside while you're in "tick-city".
